QBE hires Swiss Re exec

Australian insurer QBE has appointed Thomas Huber to lead the expansion of its European liability portfolio.

Huber has joined as head of European liability with responsibility for developing QBE’s liability book in its core European markets. Based in Zurich, he will report to Jerry Probert, director of Continental Europe.

He joins from Swiss Re, where most recently he served as managing director of casualty.

Probert said: “I am delighted that Thomas has joined us. He has a wealth of market facing and portfolio management experience and a strong track record in delivering growth and profitability.  He will be integral to the development of our liability business in Europe.”
