R&Q strengthens accident and health syndicate team

Randall & Quilter (R&Q), the insurance services and investment company, has appointed Dipesh Patel as deputy class underwriter of accident and health (A&H) at syndicate DTW1991.

Patel joins the firm Tokio Marine Kiln and has worked in the insurance industry for more than 20 years.

Initially, the account will focus on leisure travel, business travel and personal accident and will be distributed through regional brokers, binding authorities and affinity groups.

Ryan Husbands has also been appointed assistant underwriter in the A&H team. He joined the syndicate in 2013 and has supported the design and implementation of the syndicate’s coverholder management platform and assisted in the on-boarding of more than 50 specialist coverholders for the syndicate.

Daniel Wright, active underwriter, said: “The expansion into accident and health classes is a natural progression for the syndicate and widens our product offering into our core SME customer base. It’s a pleasure to welcome Dipesh to the syndicate and his appointment supports our aim of introducing new business to the Lloyd’s market.”

Patel added: “I’m proud to be working for DTW and to help build DTW1991’s A&H capabilities. I thrive on the challenge of building a business.

“The strength of this business lies in the relationships we build with our brokers, coverholders and underwriting partners. The syndicate’s coverholder network and operating platform provide an exciting opportunity.”
