RFIB Group, a Lloyd’s re/insurance broker, has appointed Paul Leith-Smith, Giles Penfold and Will Hawkins to its newly formed south-east Asia marine cargo team.

Reporting to director Chris Bracegirdle and managing director of marine Chris Tansley, the team will assist with RFIB’s expansion into south-east Asia.

Leith-Smith has over 40 years of experience, having previously served as director of marine at Ed. He was also a founding partner at CRS (Cameron Richard and Smith).

Penfold has over 22 years of marine experience, and begun his career at CRS in 1994.

Hawkins also joins from Ed after four years as a marine cargo broker.

Dennis Mahoney, CEO of RFIB said: “South East Asia represents a key growth area for RFIB and the marine cargo sector will be a key pillar in this expansion. I am delighted that we have been able to recruit such a high calibre team to develop our presence in this market.

“Their exceptional experience and market contacts, combined with a proven track record of building profitable accounts will be a terrific asset in realising our ambitions for the region.

“They have built their reputations on providing solutions tailored to clients’ specific requirements and are the ideal candidates to broaden our offering in South East Asia. I am very pleased to welcome them to RFIB.”
