Sompo Canopius, the global specialty re/insurer, is strengthening its engineering offering in Asia with the appointments of Wah Chuang Ng as head of engineering, Singapore and Alex Li as senior engineering underwriter, based at the Lloyd’s China platform.
Wah Chuang Ng, who joins the re/insurer from Chaucer, will be covering all of Asia. He brings more than 17 years of insurance experience to the role, wuth particular focus on public and private buildings and infrastructure projects, oil and gas, power and utilities, commerce and high-tech industry risks in the Asia Pacific region.
Li, who reports to Wah Chuang, has nearly 15 years of experience in the Asian insurance market, with a background in engineering.
With a team of three dedicated engineering underwriters in Asia, Sompo Canopius now has an increased ability to offer its expertise across multiple specialty and treaty lines. It operates independently and as part of the construction consortium at Lloyd’s Asia and Lloyd’s China, ensuring that the group’s specialist expertise can be utilised swiftly and effectively, and supported by the substantial joint capacity of the consortium.
