TigerRisk UK CEO steps down; successor named

The chairman and CEO of TigerRisk Partners UK, John Goldsmith, is stepping down from his role, effective December 31.

Hugo Crawley will replace Goldsmith as chairman and CEO, subject to FCA approval.

“I am truly saddened to announce John Goldsmith’s retirement,” said TigerRisk CEO, Rod Fox.

“Starting from an empty office on Leadenhall St, John was able to build a highly successful and respected UK presence in just five years. Thanks to his leadership, extraordinary ability to recognize talent and stellar reputation, TigerRisk has become an integral part of the Lloyd’s, UK and European markets. He will always be part of the Tiger family.”

The retirement marks the end of Goldsmith’s 50-years career, having started his career in 1966 as a reinsurance broker trainee at Alexander Howden & Company.

Goldsmith has held numerous leadership roles, including non-executive director on the boards of Cathedral Underwriting Agency, Aegis London, and Montpelier Re UnderwritingAgency.

He was approached by Fox in 2011 about establishing a UK presence for TigerRisk.

Goldsmith said: "Opening in London was a typically bold TigerRisk move and I just couldn’t pass it up. It is now five years from that first day and I can say wholeheartedly that being chairman and CEO of TigerRisk UK has been the highlight of my 50-year career.

“It has been a great ride, but it's now time for me to retire and pass the baton as Tiger enters the next phase of its growth. TigerRisk is a hugely talented company and a great brand which I have been privileged to lead in London and I look forward to following its continuing success."
