Towergate lures Willis, QBE & Allied World execs
UK-based Towergate Insurance has strengthened its Lloyd’s wholesale and retail advisory teams with a series of new hires.
Richard Morgan will take on the role of sales and service director for a newly established city branch, as part of Towergate Insurance Brokers (TIB). He will focus on UK corporate businesses that have a turnover between £15 million and £500 million.
Morgan joins Towergate from fellow broker Willis, where he served as development director for five years. He will report to David Armstrong, area director, London South, as part of the London regional team now reporting into Russell Collier.
Additionally, Tim Simpson-Lee and Richard Turner will join Towergate London Market (TLM), the firm’s wholesale business dealing primarily with placement into Lloyd’s.
Simpson-Lee joins the firm from the underwriting management team at QBE, while Turner joins from Allied World Assurance Company (Europe), where he served as assistant underwriter.
Morgan said: “There is a real opportunity to establish, shape and grow a market leading client service team for Towergate in the heart of London.
“We plan to build a dynamic team and have started in earnest looking for driven account and development executives who recognise that this is the chance to start something special, with the backing of a sure footed and confident Towergate.”
Joe Thelwell, chief executive officer advisory for Towergate, said: “We have attracted some serious talent in Richard Morgan, Tim Simpson-Lee and Richard Turner, who are all well established and reputable brokers in their respective fields. We are very much looking to build upon their appointments by growing both teams and capability in line with our ambitions to make a serious impact in the London region.
“This is an exciting time for both our retail and wholesale operations as we continue to build on a restored confidence in Towergate.”
