Travelers Europe appoints new CEO

The Travelers Companies has appointed a new chief executive of Travelers Europe.

Matthew Wilson had served as chief operating officer of Travelers Europe since 2012. He was also previously chief operating officer of Willis Group.

“Matthew is a great fit to lead our efforts in Europe,” said Kevin Smith, president of Travelers International. “As chief operating officer, he has proven himself to be a talented leader, and we are pleased that, as CEO, he will continue to build upon the strong foundation we have established in this market.”

Wilson said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this new role at such an exciting time. I look forward to leveraging the tremendous talent of our team to continue to strengthen our European operations.”

Wilson succeeds Sean Genden, who has been appointed Travelers International Business Insurance Lead, with responsibility for the company’s business insurance strategy outside the US.
