US Risk acquires Matias Underwriters

US Risk Insurance Group, the property and casualty wholesaler, has acquired programme administrator Matias Underwriters and has named Glenn Matias as national practice leader and vice president for the workers’ compensation (WC) division of US Risk.

Matias will manage the Boston, Dallas, Houston and Sarasota WC divisions, which have the ability to write both primary and excess workers’ compensation for an expanded number of classes with competitive rates in all 50 states.

Matias has more than 27 years of experience in the insurance industry and specialises in developing and managing workers’ compensation niche programmes.

At US Risk, he will focus on increasing overall WC writings by reinvigorating and strengthening US Risk’s current carrier relationships and expanding the carrier line-up specifically designed for the WC needs of underserved markets and industries.
