Willis Towers Watson boss named LMG chair

The London Market Group (LMG) has appointed Nicolas Aubert, head of the UK for Willis Towers Watson, as its new chair.

Aubert will succeed Steve Hearn, chief executive officer of Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford, who has held the role for two years.

Hearn said: “The London Market growth and modernisation agenda has gathered real momentum over the last year, with each of our four workstreams making good progress against their stated aims. We have recognised the challenges we face and have a plan to help counter them.

“Nicolas’ background, having worked on both sides of the market and outside London, will give him a great perspective to help challenge us and our preconceptions about what makes London great. His appointment will signal a new chapter for the organisation as it takes on more market-wide activity to ensure that London retains its position as a leading insurance and reinsurance centre.”

Aubert added: “Steve’s achievements with the LMG have had a significant impact in giving the London Market a clear focus on what needs to be done to face the future with confidence. He has driven forward an agenda that is both practical and has real ambition, and given the market a single voice to talk to a wide range of stakeholders.

“It is an exciting time for London, and I very much look forward to working with all sectors of the market to grow and enhance London’s position and reputation.”
