XL appoints COO

XL Group has appointed Thierry Daucourt as chief operating officer of its International P&C Insurance business.

Daucourt, who will be based in Zurich, will support chief executive, Jason Harris, in the ongoing development and execution of the unit’s strategy and main policies to drive expansion, financial performance and efficiencies across Europe, Asia Pacific and Iberia and Latin America.

“As we look to achieve further profitable growth, we need to add capabilities and develop new products while driving efficiencies across our vast region,” said Jason Harris, chief executive of the International P&C Insurance business. “A consistent performance is critical to our ability to serve clients and brokers with the high level of quality that we’re known for. Thierry’s broad experience in management roles with other global organisations positions him well to contribute to drive these efforts.

“Thierry has already demonstrated an ability to deliver results. Throughout his career he has led teams in many different areas including underwriting, distribution, organisational structure, IT and change management. I am delighted to have in him a strong leader joining our team.”

Daucourt brings over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry to his new role. He joins XL Group from Chubb Insurance, leaving the position of regional manager Southern Europe. Since 1998, during his tenure with Chubb Europe, he progressed through various management roles. Prior, he was with Zurich Financial Services and also held various positions with Winterthur Insurance, including head of the International Division, based in France.
