XL Catlin appoints country manager for Singapore

XL Catlin’s insurance has appointed David Guest as country manager for Singapore, effective April 5. In this role, Guest will be responsible for the development and growth of XL Catlin’s insurance business in Singapore, in addition to his current role as regional leader for crisis management insurance in Asia-Pacific. As regional leader for crisis management insurance for Asia-Pacific, he leads a team that covers war, terrorism and political violence, product recall, kidnap and ransom, political risks, trade credit and contingency.  Prior to XL Catlin in 2013, Guest spent 15 years with Hiscox’s London operations where he worked on a  range of marine and specialty lines and last held the position of global product head, war, terrorism and political violence.  Guest was also a longstanding member of the Lloyd's Market Association’s Terrorism and Political Violence Panel on which he has served as deputy chairman.  The Singapore operation was established in 1999 and can write more than 30 lines of business, across a broad range of property, casualty, professional and specialty lines. Craig Langham, chief executive, Asia Pacific for XL Catlin’s insurance business, said: “David’s extensive experience and technical expertise ideally positions him to lead our insurance operations in Singapore, where we have a strong team that offers a broad range of products and services in this important market.” Langham added: “David has played a key role in developing the crisis management book in the region. His appointment highlights the talent we have here at XL Catlin and demonstrates our commitment to the region.”
