XL Catlin lures AIG exec

XL Catlin has appointed Louisa Lu as senior underwriter of casualty in the Asia Pacific region.

Lu joins from AIG in Hong Kong where she worked for more than five years in a number of roles, most recently holding responsibility for APAC regional product liability and multinational casualty.

Prior to this, she worked at Asia Markel International for two years based in Singapore, and before that at American International Underwriter (AIU – part of AIG) in Taiwan.

Daniel Fay, regional product leader, international casualty, insurance – Asia, said: “We are delighted to welcome Louisa to the team. She has recently relocated from Hong Kong and brings with her a wealth of experience in a number of key segments including product liability, general liability, workers compensation and healthcare industry practice, providing solutions on a domestic, regional and global program basis.

“The Asian economy has been growing steadily over recent years - its share of the global economy is expected to reach nearly 45 per cent by 2025 according to forecasts. Across Asia Pacific there are also a growing number of companies operating globally, making tailored casualty coverages all the more important.”

David Guest, country manager, Singapore, insurance, Asia Pacific, added: “With companies operating across borders, there is a significant market opportunity for the provision of general, public and products liability insurance cover, which is compliant in all the territories in which a company operates. Getting the right cover in place can make the difference to the long term sustainability of a company should a claim arise. In providing this coverage we want to ensure we have the industry’s best talent here at XL Catlin, we are therefore very pleased to welcome Louisa to the team.”
