XL Catlin poaches Swiss Re VP to lead casualty team
XL Catlin has appointed Mona Carpenter as underwriting manager of its global excess casualty team in Dallas.
Carpenter joins from Swiss Re, having most recently served as vice president and senior underwriter, managing a book of lead umbrella and excess casualty programs for large US corporate accounts.
Prior to Swiss Re, she held casualty underwriting positions with AIG in both Dallas and Boston.
Carpenter will report to Maria Miramontes, regional excess casualty manager, who commented: “The demand for quality commercial umbrella and excess casualty insurance coverages remains strong as businesses look to protect their assets from increased liability exposures and significant financial loss.
“Mona will lead an underwriting team based in Dallas that will capitalise on XL Catlin’s current book of business and market position as well as reinforce the company’s commitment to the growth opportunities available in south central United States.
“Given Mona’s market knowledge, proven underwriting skill and ability to forge strong working relationships with brokers and clients, she will be an excellent addition to our team and XL Catlin’s continued success throughout the region.”
