XL Catlin reveals leadership appointments

The restructuring of XL Catlin, following the combination of the two firms, will result in the appointment of eight new underwriting and regional chief executives, Intelligent Insurer can reveal.

Joe Tocco, the CEO of XL’s North America property and casualty division, will take over responsibility for the Americas.

Andrew McMellin, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Catlin US, will take up the role of UK CEO at the newly formed company.

The chief executive of Catlin Europe Direct, Ralf Tillenburg, will become responsible for the EMEA region.

XL’s regional manager for Asia-Pacific and Australia, Craig Langham, will continue to be responsible for the Asia-Pacific region.

The combined insurance business will have four underwriting divisions.

Jason Harris, the chief executive of international property and casualty at XL, will head up the casualty division, while Doug Howat, Catlin’s underwriting director, will head up the energy, property and construction division.

Dan Kumpf, Catlin’s head of casualty and long-tail direct, will lead the combined firm’s professional division and Neil Robertson, XL’s chief executive for global specialty insurance, will remain responsible for specialty.
