McKenzie Intelligence (MIS) is an insurtech founded by former military intelligence personnel, who launched a successful geospatial imagery, data and intelligence consulting business. They have been contracted by Lloyd's and the London Market Authority since 2016 to deliver a market-wide solution to improve the efficiency of claim handling and exposure management, initially for catastrophe events.
Sector: Insurance claims, Exposure management, Catastrophe
Since then, the service has evolved to deliver intelligence across the claims and exposure management process beyond catastrophic events, to all 53 Lloyd's managing agencies as well as a worldwide network of third party administrators and loss adjusters.
MIS curates information from a variety of sources such as satellites, internet of things, and open source, identifies and quantifies scenarios, and then disseminates high quality actionable intelligence via an easy to use web portal. The service has delivered tangible benefits and seen engagement across the market, with thousands of interactions from more than 550 individual users.
The London-based insurtech provides initial data to exposure and claims teams within 24 hours, full analysis after 72 hours and a reinsurance timeline report within 168 hours. During Hurricane Michael, MIS delivered zip code fidelity reports to exposure managers and individual property assessments to claims teams within 24 hours, and during Hurricane Dorian it used radar imagery to see through cloud to identify flooded areas.
This summer 2019 saw MIS build a prototype for the Future at Lloyd's transformation programme, showcasing the next, highly automated generation of the product to the market.
