Based in Los Angeles, Praedicat quantifies the loss to economy and liability insurers from litigation allowing risk management and product development. It now has offices in New York and London.

Praedicat began as a research and development project in 2009-10 to to apply new data science methods to the problem of identifying the next asbestos. Praedicat’s multidisciplinary group of founders, working at RAND and Risk Management Solutions introduced their discoveries to people at global insurers, who asked them to turn it into products, according to the company’s website.

In 2017, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, the corporate insurance carrier of Germany’s Allianz, partnered with the insurtech to better predict the key catastrophe liability risks of the future. The following year XL Catlin partnered with Praedicat to help address changing liability insurance needs using its emerging risk models and software for casualty insurance.
