AIG appoints chief digital officer

American International Group, has appointed Michael Lewis as chief digital officer, effective July 5, 2016.

Lewis will be responsible for designing and delivering enterprise-wide digital capabilities and solutions focused on improving overall business performance, and enhancing the customer and employee experience. He will report to Philip Fasano, executive vice president and chief information officer.

Lewis has more than 25 years of experience, having most recently served as global chief technology officer, digital, for the consumer businesses at JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPMC). Here he was responsible for defining and implementing an overall digital transformation, while overseeing the chief architecture and chief development officers.

Lewis was also involved in delivering business solutions for JPMC, including the patent-pending Chase 3.0 online, Apple Pay, Chase Pay, Branch of the Future, and Chase Mobile – the #1 rated mobile banking app for iPhone and Android devices in the US market.

Lewis has also held senior technology roles at organisations such as Lloyds Banking Group, where he was group chief technology officer, and Bank of America, where he served as senior vice president, technology architecture & development executive.
