Markel Singapore appoints marine underwriter

Specialist insurer Markel International has promoted Luke Tidey to marine underwriter in its Singapore office.

He will be responsible for the marine hull book of business and succeeds Matt Cannock, principal officer and managing director of Markel Singapore.

Tidey joined the firm’s Singapore office in April 2014 as assistant underwriter, having moved across from the company’s Stockholm branch, where he held the same position. He joined the firm from Vero Marine in Australia.

Cannock said: “Luke has done a fantastic job since he joined the Singapore team last year and his promotion is well deserved.

“It’s an important move strategically and having somebody concentrate full time on this key line of business will mean that we can truly offer the great service that our clients and brokers deserve.”
