Swiss Re unveils leadership change in Asia
Swiss Re has appointed a new head of Malaysia replacing Marcel Omar Papp, who has been in the role since 2018 and will now focus on his responsibilities as head of Swiss Re Retakaful.
Balasubramanian Nagarajan (pictured) has been appointed as head of client markets property & casualty (conventional), and head of Swiss Re Asia Malaysia, effective September 1, 2021.
In his new role, Nagarajan will strengthen and diversify Swiss Re’s insurance relationships for the P&C business across the region. He has extensive experience in the insurance sector, most recently as head P&C business management SID, where he oversaw claims processing in property and engineering, liability and non-life accident claims.
Victor Kuk, head P&C reinsurance SID, said: "We are pleased to have Bala drive our robust P&C business, and with his 25-year track record across re/insurance in South East Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and India, having managed significant claims related to property, financial lines and catastrophes, the knowledge he will bring to our Malaysia business will be invaluable.”
Kuk added that "as the pandemic, climate change and other factors continue to propose heightened risk and volatility, the need for new and different insurance solutions are on the rise,"
