Tokio Marine Kiln makes board changes

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has announced a number of governance changes with effect from 1 January 2016.

Paul Hewitt is to step down as chairman of Tokio Marine Kiln Syndicates, having joined TMK as a non-executive director in 2006.

Richard Bennison will succeed Hewitt as chairman of Tokio Marine Kiln Syndicates, and will also become chairman of Tokio Marine Kiln Insurance. Bennison joined TMK as a non-executive director in May 2013. Prior to this, he was employed at KPMG, where he most recently held the positions of chief operating officer of KPMG Europe and chief executive officer of KPMG in the UK with full responsibility for the UK firm’s operating performance.

Richard Bucknall, who is chairman of Tokio Marine Kiln Insurance will remain as a non-executive director; and join the board of Tokio Marine Kiln Syndicates also as a non-executive director.

The company said the changes would allow TMK’s two regulated businesses, Tokio Marine Kiln Syndicates and Tokio Marine Kiln Insurance, to have have a common approach, operating with a common leadership team to support TMK’s One TMK strategy.

Ian Brimecome, chairman of Tokio Marine Group, said: “I’d like to extend a huge thanks to Paul for his enormous contribution to Tokio Marine Kiln over the past decade as both a non-executive director and as chairman of our Lloyd’s operation, including most recently his invaluable guidance and leadership during Kiln’s integration with Tokio Marine Europe.

“I would also like to congratulate Richard as he steps up to the role of chairman of both the Tokio Marine Kiln Syndicates and Tokio Marine Kiln Insurance Boards. His wealth of experience and knowledge in the financial services sector has been enormously beneficial to us over the past two years and we look forward to working with him in his new role.”
