XL Catlin opens second Mexico office; names client distribution leader

XL Catlin has opened its second office in Mexico, located in Monterrey, and has appointed Carlos Matthey as client distribution leader.

Matthey will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with regional and international clients and brokers operating in the northern region of the country.

Matthey has over 15 years of industry experience, having most recently served as the regional director of Allianz’s Monterrey branch office.

He previously held several positions at ING (now AXA), including special account manager for property, casualty, aviation and international programs.

Pablo Crain, country manager for XL Catlin's insurance segment, said: "We are proud to announce the opening of our Monterrey office and to have Carlos Matthey join our growing team in Mexico and Latin America.

“Monterrey is one of the top five industrial hubs in Latin America and home to regional operations of some of the largest steel, cement, glass, auto parts and bottling companies in the world.

“Carlos has vast experience and deep understanding of the region; he will expand our footprint in the Monterrey market providing our existing and future clients and brokers with high quality service and the right insurance solution for their specific business needs."

Joe Tocco, chief executive of insurance for the Americas, added: "The opening of our Monterrey office is evidence of XL Catlin's commitment to bringing our global programs expertise closer to our local and international clients in Mexico and Latin America. The new office strengthens and builds on our growing capabilities to serve emerging markets."
