Gallagher Re adds C-suite power from Hiscox to drive growth in UK

Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has strengthened its top leadership with the appointment of a global transformation director and new UK chief operating officer (COO) from Hiscox.

Louise Marling has been appointed as Gallagher Re UK COO following the promotion of Gina Butterworth, who steps into the role of global transformation director. Marling will report directly to Ian Kerton, UK chief executive officer.

Marling comes to Gallagher Re from Hiscox UK, where she contributed to the establishment of the integrated operations infrastructure for the UK business. She has experience in transforming change and IT functions, implementing digital strategies, and overseeing the design and implementation of new operational capability.

Prior to Hiscox, Marling served as the COO for William Russell where she was responsible for strategy development, business planning, and managing partnerships for IT and change both in the UK and overseas.

Kerton said: “This is an exciting time to join Gallagher Re, and Louise brings with her a wealth of experience that will enable her to rise to the challenge. We are thrilled to welcome her into the fold and look forward to working with her on the next phase of our development.”

Marling said: “Gallagher Re has an outstanding reputation in the reinsurance market, with numerous high-profile deals and a track record of developing creative and innovative solutions.”

“I am delighted to be joining them at such an exciting time.”
