AIG appoints capital markets head
AIG has appointed Samir Shah as head of capital markets and catastrophe risk as part of its vision to be the customers’ most valued insurer.
Shah, who has served as senior vice president and chief reinsurance officer for AIG property casualty, will be succeeded by Amy Stern. She will report to George Stratts, president of global property at AIG.
Stern will be responsible for leading the reinsurance division, including internal reinsurance programs and ceded reinsurance programs for AIG commercial insurance. She will also have oversight of any ceded reinsurance programs within the consumer property casualty portfolio as well.
She joined AIG in 2013 as ceded reinsurance director, responsible for product line reinsurance for commercial casualty, financial lines and specialty, and the use of capital markets across all ceded reinsurance.
In this newly formed position, he will approach the capital markets as One AIG, creating packages and structures to transfer insurance risk directly to capital markets where there is opportunity to create value for our customers and AIG.
