Barbican hires Faraday Re underwriter
Barbican Insurance, which operates mainly through its Lloyd’s Syndicates, has appointed Tim Mackenzie, formerly of Faraday Re, as an underwriter in the firm’s international casualty reinsurance division.
Prior to joining Barbican, Mackenzie was an international casualty treaty underwriter at Faraday Re. He joined the firm in 2005 and as part of the casualty treaty team worked across a broad spectrum of business classes, including motor, general liability and professional indemnity, and spanning the UK, Europe, Australasia and the Caribbean. He began his insurance career at Royal & SunAlliance in 2003.
Mackenzie will report to Andy Caldwell, head of non-marine reinsurance.
Caldwell said: “We have achieved strong growth in the international casualty reinsurance arena in recent years, achieved primarily due to our experience and broad underwriting capabilities. Tim’s appointment strengthens the team and we look forward to further building our market position.
“Over the last ten years, I have worked across a range of business lines and territories in the casualty sector, developing relationships and seeking out new opportunities. I am very much looking forward to utilising my experience to help the Barbican casualty team continue its strong performance."
