Marsh poaches BGL and Towergate execs
Marsh has appointed Mike Canniffe as UK affinity leader and Paul Kershaw as placement and proposition leader in its UK consumer and commercial practice.
They will focus on client engagement, developing Marsh’s relationships with insurers, and product innovation.
Canniffe will be responsible for the strategic development of Marsh’s affinity proposition, building on Marsh’s existing footprint in the market and expanding the firm’s distribution and product channels for the benefit of its affinity clients.
He joins Marsh from BGL, where he was commercial director of the legal services division. He has also held senior positions within Lloyds Banking Group and RSA, and was the European 6 Sigma quality leader for GE Consumer Finance.
In the newly created role of placement and proposition leader, Kershaw will develop the consumer and commercial practice’s relationships with insurers, ensuring that the solutions they offer match the requirements and the emerging risks that Marsh’s clients face.
Kershaw joins Marsh from Towergate, where he was operations and conduct director.
Julie Page, chief executive officer of Marsh’s consumer and commercial division, said: “I am delighted that Mike and Paul are joining Marsh. Their appointments mark an important milestone in the development of our commercial and consumer business, where we continue to invest in growth opportunities and in the development of propositions to benefit our clients and to support the goals and objectives of our affinity partners. Mike and Paul bring a vast amount of expertise and experience to Marsh, and I believe they will build on the existing strong foundations as we continue to grow.”
