Miller grows energy footprint in Asia with new partnership
Specialist re/insurance broker Miller has partnered with Central Insurance Services (CIS) to grow its energy footprint in Asia.
Miller will work together with Central to service energy clients based in Thailand. The agreement will provide locally based servicing capability and bring deep relationships and knowledge of the Thai market. Miller will provide technical consulting services, risk engineering, reinsurance placement and claims services.
The partnership builds on Miller and Central’s existing relationship in P&C, expanding its focus to the energy sector and reflecting Miller’s broader growth ambitions for Asia, energy and reinsurance.
Ron Whyte, head of Miller Asia, said: “I’m excited to deepen our already strong relationship with Central and enhance our energy, power and construction offering in Thailand. Thailand is an important market for energy, and one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia with over $11 billion of non-life premiums placed annually. I look forward to working closely with Central and continuing to enhance our core growth strategy in the region.”
Matthew Hooker, head of energy and marine, Asia Pacific, added: “Together with Central we are confident about the opportunity to enhance our proposition and distribution. Having local broking expertise will allow us to actively serve the energy business in Thailand and be closer to clients, offering them the best services to meet new and emerging risks.”
Narin Setabandhu, head of insurance, Central Group said: “CIS has been exploring opportunities in other niche lines of business outside of Central Group property with strategic partners. Power and energy was identified as a niche line of business and with Miller’s expertise in this space and our existing valued partnership, I am excited to bring together our two highly complementary skill sets. Our joint belief in the importance of specialism and service excellence will allow us to serve the growing Thai market and bring clients the expertise they need.”
