Amlin develops US Casualty reinsurance business

Amlin is looking to establish a lead US market for Casualty reinsurance, with a particular focus on general and professional liability.

The Lloyd’s re/insurer has indicated that the business will be sourced direct from US brokers and underwritten on behalf of Syndicate 2001 through a new US-based Amlin service company, Amlin Reinsurance Managers, Inc.

“With some signs of conditions in the US improving, we believe this team will be well positioned to take advantage of rate hardening over the coming few years. Our aim is to provide access to risks from US intermediaries that do not come to Lloyd’s and provide further diversification to our existing Casualty portfolio,” said Duncan Dale, head of property & casualty at Amlin.
