Barbican poaches CV Starr exec for D&O role

Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Hans Sherman as underwriting manager of its directors’ and officers’ (D&O) team.

Sherman will report to Andrew Pearson, underwriting manager of financial and professional lines.

He has 16 years of experience in insurance, and previously served as senior underwriting manager and head of management liability at CV Starr, having joined the firm in 2010.

Sherman has also served as an associate vice president at AIG (London). He joined as a senior underwriter in 2006 and in 2007 became referral and business development manager in the firm’s commercial institutions team.

Other positions he has held include referrals manager at American International Underwriters (Frankfurt) and senior underwriter at American International Underwriters (New York).
