Brokerslink continues African regional expansion

Brokerslink, one of the world’s largest independent insurance broker networks, has continued its African regional expansion with the opening of a new operation in Abidjan, the primary economic centre of Ivory Coast, by member Filhet-Allard Group.

Henry Allard, a board director of Filhet-Allard Group, said: “This is a major step in our strategy to expand in the French speaking parts of Africa where we have been involved in marine business for decades. Having a local company will strengthen our capabilities in marine and allow us to develop P&C and employee benefits businesses as well as to support the Brokerslink members.”

Brokerslink has recently established a dedicated regional structure focused on the Middle East & Africa and the appointment of Youness Rhallam, chief executive officer of Alpha Assurances, one of the largest independent insurance brokers in Morocco, as the regional director, to support its expansion plans and to help build closer relationships and tailor services for local clients.

Jose Manuel Fonseca, chairman of Brokerslink, said: “This further expansion in the African continent is an important development for both Filhet-Allard and Brokerslink. We see significant opportunities for our members in Africa and so have established the structure and leadership to help take advantage of this potential. We are clearly focused on providing clients in this fast growing market with access to the highest standards of local expertise supported by global service.”
