Capita Insurance Services hires director from LMA

Capita Insurance Services has appointed Doug Humberstone, formerly of London Market Association, as director of shared services, with effect from 11th August 2014.

He will be part of the team reporting to Karen Clements, chief executive of Capita Insurance and Regulatory Services.

Humberstone’s role is to develop additional services for the Lloyd’s shared services platform, most importantly to utilise his experience to expand Capita’s claims proposition.

He has spent the last seven years at the London Market Association (LMA) supporting both claims and underwriting operations and led the delivery of the market wide static contract. He oversaw the Claims Service Agreement with XCS via the Claims Service Review Board (CSRB) and was part of the selection panel for the Lloyd’s Volume Claims Service.

Prior to this he was at QBE where he developed an in house service operation covering underwriting, claims, outwards reinsurance and credit control functions.

Clements said: “Our platform is the first market service for the Lloyd’s community in Singapore. One of our ambitions is to widen the services offered to include a claims function and Doug’s experience and claims expertise will be instrumental in facilitating this expansion. He is a well known and respected industry figure and under his guidance the platform will remain at the forefront of this market and continue to create solutions for service companies.”

Humberstone added: “Capita is an ambitious business and is serious about growth and innovation. The Singapore shared services platform encapsulates this and I am looking forward to working closely with Lloyd’s, our current clients and future clients who will be joining the Singapore platform in due course. Being part of the development of future services, including the claims proposition is an exciting prospect for me.”
