Greenlight Re Ireland hires ex-Liberty Mutual exec for European business

Specialist property/casualty reinsurer Greenlight Re Ireland, a subsidiary of Greenlight Capital Re, has appointed Sean Rocks as a consultant.

Rocks will work closely with the newly-appointed CEO of Greenlight Re Ireland Patrick O’Brien to assist in reviewing and implementing an international strategy for the company's European business.

The company said Rocks will be providing his services through his consultancy company, Idlerock Consulting.

Prior to this, Rocks was the chief underwriting officer – commercial, of Liberty Specialty Markets in London, having previously been chief executive officer of Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe.

"Greenlight is delighted to have Sean working with us," said O’Brien. "Sean and I worked together for over ten years developing Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe Ltd, and it is good to be working together again.

"His experience, relationships in the marketplace, and knowledge of how to develop solid businesses will be a considerable asset for Greenlight Re as we continue to deliver the quality of service that our clients expect."

Rocks added: "I am looking forward to working with Pat to assist in outlining the best approach for Greenlight’s European strategy. We will look to identify significant growth opportunities. Greenlight’s entrepreneurial and flexible approach provides a solid footing for continued growth and development."
