Markel appoints casualty treaty claims manager

Markel International, a specialist insurer, has promoted Zoe Woods to claims manager for its new casualty treaty division.

Previously Woods handled the casualty portfolio at Alterra as head of Long Tail Reinsurance Claims and prior to that she held claims positions at Catlin and Equitas (latterly Resolute).

She will lead a team of Colin Douglas, senior claims adjuster and Nina Shah, claims adjuster.

“Zoe has the technical ability to bring an active and creative approach to claims management which, allied to her people skills, equips her to be a real success in this new role,” said Hannah Purves, claims director. “She will also be a valuable addition to the senior leadership of the claims division.”
