Munich Re CEO to step down; replacement revealed

Nikolaus von Bomhard, the chief executive of Munich Re, has revealed plans to step down from both his position as CEO and from the supervisory board of Munich Reinsurance Company.

He will replaced by Joachim Wenning, who has been responsible for international life reinsurance business at Munich Re since the beginning of 2009.

Wenning has also been responsible for human resources since 1 October 2013 and became Munich Re's Labour Relations Director on that date. His appointment to the board of management has also been extended to 31 December 2021.

The change will occur on April 26, 2017, the date of the company’s 2017 Annual General Meeting.

Nikolaus von Bomhard had held the role of Munich Re CEO since 2004.
