Ryan Specialty launches hospitals coverage

Ryan Specialty Group’s (RSG) Sapphire Blue and Lloyd’s Catlin Underwriting Agencies have launched a new liability insurance programme specifically designed to target small rural and specialty hospitals in the US.

The programme features a claims management and a risk management component provided by Pendulum and The Sullivan Group.

The coverage will include Claims Made Hospital Professional Liability and Claims Made or Occurrence General Liability. The minimum premium is $10,000 and coverage extensions such as Medicare/Medicaid Billing Errors & Omissions are available on a risk by risk basis.

“We are pleased to announce this exclusive, new program with Catlin, a Lloyd’s leader in hospital professional liability,” said Kieran Dempsey, the CEO of Sapphire Blue.

“The smaller rural and specialty hospitals in the US have had a difficult time for many years finding the appropriate coverage at a reasonable price. This exclusive programme is highly competitive in both rates and coverage.”

Dan Curran, head of casualty business at Catlin Underwriting Agencies, added: “In collaboration with Sapphire Blue, we are offering the US market products and services that will enable smaller hospitals in rural areas to take advantage of the kinds of risk management services typically available only to larger entities.

“Further, the culture fit with Sapphire Blue is excellent. We know from experience the best insurance products and services are the result of long-term relationships with clients and expertise in niche markets. Sapphire Blue has those relationships and specialty expertise, and we’re optimistic about going forward together with this great new programme.”
