The Hartford names Tooker head of middle market

The Hartford, a US-based property/casualty insurance firm, has appointed Morris Tooker as the head of its middle market segment that offers multiline commercial insurance coverages for midsize and larger businesses.

The company also said that Tooker will remain the chief underwriting officer for its property and casualty businesses, and continue reporting to The Hartford president Doug Elliot.

Prior to joining The Hartford in 2015, Tooker served as president of General Reinsurance Corporation and was responsible for the company's global property and casualty reinsurance business.

"Mo is a highly-regarded risk expert who has been instrumental in enhancing The Hartford's capabilities in product development and underwriting, including the expansion of our cyber and multinational insurance offerings," said Elliot.

"In middle market, Mo and his leadership team will continue to focus on profitably growing the franchise through disciplined underwriting and sales execution."
