Validus Reaseguros appoints treaty exec

Validus Reaseguros, a part of Validus Re, has appointed Alejandro Salamanca as assistant vice president, treaty underwriter in its Miami office.

Prior to his appointment, Salamanca served as an underwriter in the Miami office working in the treaty department. His focus is on the agriculture and surety portfolios.

Salamanca has been with Validus in Miami since 2008, where he began his career as a direct and facultative underwriting assistant.

“Alejandro’s promotion is reflective of the high standards of excellence and integrity that he brings to Validus,” said Andy Downey, chief executive officer of Validus Reaseguros.

“His discipline and dedication to the company have been instrumental in bolstering our treaty underwriting practice. He continues to work hard to exceed our clients’ expectations as we continue to grow our reinsurance practice, and I am confident that he will continue to do so in his new role,” he added.
