Specialty MGA UK nabs ex-TransRe leader to expand in Latin America

Specialty MGA UK, a managing general agent focused on providing additional capacity for hard-to-place risks, has expanded its presence in Latin America with a new hire.

Humberto Contasta, who has more than two decades of experience in the industry, joins Specialty MGA as head of treaty, Latin America and the Caribbean, and will work out of the firm’s office in Miami.

Through previous roles with Odyssey Re and TransRe, where he worked for more than 14 years, he has handled property insurance portfolios across Latin America. At Specialty MGA he will look to increase the firm’s book of business by developing a new marketing plan and building brand awareness.
