WTW lifts insiders in build-out for Asia-Pacific growth
Global insurance brokerage WTW tapped two relative newcomers for major brokerage leadership positions in its APAC operations.
Rupert Roberts, carrying experience across retail, wholesale and specialty broking in Europe and Asia Pacific but with WTW for only a year, will step up to become head of corporate risk and broking (CRB) for Southeast Asia. He'll oversee WTW’s CRB country leaders in Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, as well as the company’s partners in Malaysia and Thailand.
Christine Lau, six years at WTW, will take a post as head of corporate risk and broking (CRB) in Singapore to follow a tenure as head of client services in that office. She is tasked with growth in large accounts, specialty and industries.
Luke Ware, Head of CRB for WTW in Asia, commented: “The Southeast Asia region is a diverse and thriving geography, with a mix of economies and varied profiles. However, the region still faces under-insurance challenges in many markets. We see increased awareness of risk and strong demand from companies for more sophisticated risk transfer solutions, driven by data insights and created with specialty expertise. Both Rupert and Christine bring unique skillsets and industry experience to our business in these high growth and dynamic retail markets.
“The two appointments we have made also demonstrate our commitment to investing in and promoting internal talent at WTW as we strive to be the leading specialty broker and risk advisor, delivering differentiated value and smarter solutions to our clients.”
