Cedants’ strategies diverge

Cedants’ strategies diverge

To state that all cedants are retaining more is to oversimplify the strategies smaller players are employing around their risk transfer needs, as Intelligent Insurer discovers.

Much of the talk during this renewals season so far has focused on the trend of buyers retaining more risk on their own balance sheets and being more selective in terms of which reinsurers they work with.

But while this is true when it comes to some of the large, global players, it is a simplification when applied to all cedants.

Many executives believe a growing split is emerging between the strategies and subsequent requirements of large, global players in contrast to the approach being adopted by smaller cedants.
