Monte Carlo offers perspective on ILS

This month saw the re/insurance industry assemble in the South of France for the annual Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous. As delegates darted from meeting to meeting, the current state of the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market was the topic of many conversations.

Paul Schultz, chief executive officer at Aon Securities, attended the conference. He says that ILS was one of the main topics there.

“In 2014, alternative capital was probably the dominant talking point of the Rendez-Vous, especially around its disruptive effect and the competition it presents to the traditional industry,” he says.
