ACE builds its energy insurance capabilities

ACE Group has appointed Edwin Schleich to the new role of energy manager for Continental Europe as it continues to invest in building up its energy insurance capabilities across the region.

Schleich will be based in Frankfurt and report to Andreas Wania, ACE country president, Germany and Matt Hardy, senior vice president, energy for ACE Overseas General.

He will be responsible for development and growth of ACE’s energy portfolio in Continental Europe with an emphasis on the chemicals and petrochemicals industries.

Schleich has over 25 years of insurance industry experience and has been with ACE for 14 of these. Prior to his new role, Edwin was responsible for ACE’s energy portfolio in Germany since 2008.

Andreas Wania, ACE country president, Germany, said: “I am confident that Edwin’s knowledge of the chemical and petrochemical industries and his previous experience in Germany will help us to further develop our customer proposition and drive the profitable growth of our energy portfolio across the Continent.”

Matt Hardy, senior vice president, energy for ACE Overseas General, said: “Creating this new role demonstrates ACE’s commitment to increasing its presence in Europe’s energy markets and positioning our underwriting talent, capital and capacity at a local level to meet client needs. Given his extensive underwriting and industry experience, Edwin will be instrumental in bringing our European clients and brokers closer access to ACE's energy capabilities.”
