AEGIS appoints cargo underwriter from Sompo

AEGIS London, a Lloyd's managing agency and the UK-based subsidiary of AEGIS, has hired James Hyett as cargo underwriter.

Hyett joins from Sompo International where he was a marine underwriter. Hyett has previously worked at Lockton and JLT.

Based in London, Hyett will report to Richard Palengat, AEGIS London’s head of marine & energy.

“James brings a diversity of experience across a number of cargo sub-classes to complement our existing portfolio,” Palengat said. “He will be working closely with underwriter Dave Allen and the rest of the cargo team to shape and position the AEGIS London cargo account for the medium-to-long-term. This includes expanding our digital offering in the cargo space – our Stock Through-Put product on OPAL, which is our online quote-and-bind platform.”
