AJ Gallagher sweeps up Florida-based agency

Brokerage  Arthur J. Gallagher & Co will buy Orlando, Florida based agency Risk Transfer Insurance Agency with its P&C operations for professional employer organizations (PEOs) and temporary staffing firms,  Gallagher said Tuesday (January 4) of its latest acquisition.

To-date leadership and associates will remain in their current location under the direction of Peter Doyle, head of Gallagher's Southeast region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, and Chris Leisz, head of RPS Signature Programs of Risk Placement Services, Gallagher's US wholesale brokerage, binding authority and programs division.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Risk Transfer Insurance Agency is a well-known agency with deep expertise in the growing PEO industry that will complement Gallagher's existing strengths in that area," said J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. (pictured), chairman, president and CEO.

Gallagher has repeatedly said it hopes to buy up as many mature small- to mid-sized brokerages as it can lay its hands on. Gallagher thinks that its toughest competition, even on many large accounts, is precisely amongst some well-established regional and local players, players that might enjoy some of the benefits of joining Gallagher's global team, officials argued for a mid-December investor day.
