AJG acquires American MGA

Broker Arthur J Gallagher has acquired Maryland specialty wholesale and managing general agency (MGA) Tri-State General.

Established in 1979, Tri-State General places transportation, garage, professional liability, special events, and property and casualty insurance for its retail insurance broker clients throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, Ohio and Washington, DC.

Edward Dickerson, president of Tri-State General, and his team will continue to operate from their Salisbury, Maryland location under the direction of Joel Cavaness, president of Risk Placement Services, a subsidiary of Arthur J Gallagher.

"We are pleased to welcome Ed Dickerson and his talented staff from Tri-State to our growing US wholesale operations," said J Patrick Gallagher, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
