Alesco expands renewable energy with double hire from Marsh

Alesco Risk Management Services, a specialist broker, has poached two senior renewable energy brokers from Marsh.

Murray Haynes and John Abraham join its renewable energy division in London and report to Bob Lock, head of renewable energy at Alesco.

Haynes brings over 30 years of experience in the energy and environmental sectors. He previously worked for a specialty insurance provider focused on contaminated land development solutions. Murray re-joined the energy broking industry in 2004 with HSBC Insurance Brokers, initially in Dubai and, upon returning to London, focused exclusively on the renewable energy and clean tech sector, until its sale to Marsh in 2010.

Abraham spent six years at Marsh, first in Singapore before moving back to London in 2011 to join the renewable energy and power practice where he played a key role working with global renewable energy clients and insurance markets. He was also part of the weather and energy specialty products team, delivering unique alternative risk transfer products to the European, Pacific, Latin American and African markets.

Henry Croft-Baker, head of onshore energy at Alesco, said: “Over the last 12-18 months there has been a significant increase in investment in the renewable energy industry and we are seeing a marked increase in the number of enquiries from our clients. It is a key growth area for us and we are delighted to welcome two well respected and experienced brokers in Murray and John. Their breadth of geographical knowledge complements our existing offering and will be vital as we look to expand and develop our expertise in this class.”
