Allianz appoints chief claims officer to board

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), the industrial and specialist risk insurer of Allianz Group, has created a new chief claims officer position on its Management Board.

Alexander Mack, who is based in Munich, Germany, and is currently AGCS’s global head of Claims, will assume his role in April, 2014 and will be responsible for all aspects of AGCS’s claims services worldwide across all its product lines.

Mack joined AGCS in 2007 as global head of Long-tail Claims, then becoming global head of Claims in 2013. Prior to this, Mack had served at Gerling Insurance Company since 1987.

Axel Theis, AGCS SE’s CEO, said: “Claims service is a core competence for AGCS, and this should be reflected with dedicated representation at Board level. Alexander will be a strong advocate for the strategic development of this service which is so important in delivering practical support for our clients at critical times.”

Mack will be supported in this role by a global claims management team, consisting of Dr. Andreas Shell, global head of Short-tail Claims, with responsibility for the Property, Energy, Engineering and Marine lines of business; Philipp Cremer, global head of Long-tail Claims – for Liability, Financial Lines and Aviation; Tassilo Hummel, Claims Portfolio Intelligence and Coordination – covering loss analysis and claims monitoring; and Brent Sorensen, global Discontinued Business Division which handles run-off and legacy business.
