Allianz bolsters North American marine leadership with global expert

Allianz Group’s specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed a new regional head of hull and marine liabilities (HML) in North America.

Baptiste Ossena, global product leader of hull and marine liabilities (HML), will assume the additional responsibility from April 1.

Ossena will relocate to New York from Paris for the role, and work closely with John Kiernan, the current head of HML in North America, who will take on the key responsibility for large account management and portfolio steering across the business.

Ossena has held his current global role since 2017. He also served as the regional head of Mediterranean marine & energy through January 2018, also based in Paris. Ossena first joined AGCS in 2010 as an internal audit manager and in 2012 moved to the marine business, first as an international marine hull underwriter and then as a business strategy analyst, CUO Marine.

“We are extremely pleased with the growth and production of our Marine business under John’s direction,” said Rich Soja, North American head of marine and global head of inland marine. “Adding Baptiste to the leadership team will serve as a significant resource and advantage for clients while strengthening and expanding our global footprint.”
