Ambant Underwriting Services hires former Cooper Gay director

Ambant Underwriting Services (AUS), a managing general agent (MGA) launch and host specialist, has appointed Chris Butcher as chief executive officer (CEO).

Butcher formerly served as chief trading officer of Cooper Gay and Co and previously held director level posts with AXA and Navigators Group.

Butcher said: “Now is the ideal time to join this successful and forward thinking firm. My goal is to build on AUS’s great strengths and we’re looking to extend our market offering. Then we can serve our clients even better and help more MGAs to launch easily, successfully and compliantly – and support them as they grow.”

Steven Crabb, CEO of Ambant, AUS’s parent company, added: “Chris is an innovator who’ll spearhead AUS’s product and service development and oversee its market expansion. This is good news for the firm’s current MGA clients as well as those looking to launch.

“He brings outstanding industry expertise and specialist strategic and managerial skills to further strengthen the team. His ability to deliver success by helping MGAs achieve their potential - plus his passion, experience and vision - will move the firm and its clients up another step.”

AUS is a subsidiary of professional services firm Ambant. In February 2015 Guernsey-based insurance and financial services specialist Heritage Group took a 33 percent investment in AUS.
