Aon appoints head of legal and technical in London

Aon has appointed Edward Smerdon as head of legal and technical within the Financial and Professional Services division of its London-based Global Broking Centre (GBC).

Smerdon was previously a partner at Reynolds Porter Chamberlain and, more recently, the managing partner of Sedgwick Detert Moran & Arnold in London. Smerdon held leadership roles within both law firms.

He is a specialist in complex coverage, with a particular emphasis on financial lines insurance including directors & officers, financial institutions, and professional and employment practice liabilities.

Smerdon has worked on many complex claim negotiations and has led product development for many industry verticals. He is a regular on industry panels, addressing key issues facing the sector.
