Aon appoints new reinsurance solutions CEO

Broker Aon has appointed Andrew Marcell as chief executive officer of its reinsurance solutions business.

Aon announced earlier this month that it is retiring its Aon Risk Solutions and its reinsurance unit Aon Benfield brands, and creating an integrated global operating committee.

In his new role, Marcell will be responsible for managing the existing operations and growth strategy of Aon’s reinsurance solutions business as it begins its brand transition from Aon Benfield. Based in New York, he will continue to report to Eric Andersen, co-president of Aon.

Marcell joined Aon in 2015 as head of strategy for Aon Benfield. He was appointed president of Aon Benfield in 2017, taking on a wider executive role to support ongoing growth strategies.

Prior to joining Aon Benfield in August 2015, Marcell was CEO of Guy Carpenter’s US operations and head of its global facultative business.

He has successfully identified key growth initiatives and implemented strategies that will allow us to achieve profitable growth in a sector with challenging market dynamics.
